Building Mirror Pages!
By Kevin Needham
So you have
finally decided to do a little advertising? Perhaps your going
to post in a couple of newsgroups or your going to submit to a
number of classified ad sites? You may even be thinking about
placing an ad right here, in the Inet Mailer?
Great ideas, but
first, your going to want to be able to tell if each and every
ad you place is worth your time. How else will you know if you
should keep repeating the same ads in the same places? No matter
what type of advertising you do, free or paid, it is important
to track your results. The best way to track results is using
mirror pages.
A mirror page is
also called a "lead in page". You can set them up very
easily and then only advertise the mirror page. This way, you
can check your log file (ask your ISP how, if you do not know)
to see how many visitors have come to your mirror page and keep
track of how effective your advertising campaign was.
Please note: We do
not recommend these mirror pages for tracking hits from the top
ten search engines, but for all other types of advertising they
are great.
To make a mirror
page, simply copy this code:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META
HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="1;
URL=http://www.your.url.here">
<TITLE> Your
title here </TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY BGCOLOR="#ffffff"
TEXT="#FFFFFF">
<P>
Put all your
keywords here, separated
by
commas,</BODY></HTML>
Now, change these
variables:
http://www.your.url.here
= The URL you want to direct traffic to!
Your title here =
The title of your mirror page!
Put all your
keywords here == All your keywords!
CONTENT="1;
== The 1 means one second to refresh the page, Set this to any
number of seconds you wish!
That is it, a
visitor comes to your mirror page, and in one second it
refreshes and takes them to the URL you programmed in.
Here is a working
example. We are currently using it in an
advertising
campaign.

I'm only
suggesting you use these mirror pages for tracking your
advertising campaigns. The search engines will penalize you for
trying to submit a mirror page to their index.
Thats fine, if
you need a quick way to track your ads, then creating quick and
simple mirror pages is the way to go.
